IEBCA Seminar:
"Elevate Your Job Hunt"

(Please use the RSVP on the top of this page to register for the event.)

Description:

Please join the Iranian Engineers of BC Association (IEBCA) in an informative in-person presentation by Mahsoo Naderi, P.Eng, Councillor of Engineers and Geoscientists BC. The presentation is in English and free to IEBCA members and the public.

Job hunting can be a daunting task, especially in today's highly competitive job market. Whether you are a recent graduate looking to enter the workforce or an experienced professional seeking to take the next step in your career, having a resilient job search strategy is essential. In this presentation, we will provide you with some best practices for elevating your job hunt, including actionable steps to take in order to increase your chances of success. One of the most important tactics is professional networking, which can help you gain insights into the job market, build relationships with potential employers, and access hidden job opportunities. Attending seminars like the ones offered by IEBCA and Engineers and Geoscientists BC is a great way to connect with like-minded professionals and expand your network. We will also discuss other key strategies such as tailoring your resume and cover letter to specific job postings, leveraging social media to showcase your skills and experience, and preparing for interviews to make a lasting impression on hiring managers. By implementing these tactics and strategies, you can take your job hunt to the next level and land the job you've been hoping for.

Reflecting on a Real Issue: "International Credential Recognition in BC"

Professional immigrants of various disciplines are hit alike by the hardship associated with their credential recognition in Canada, and Iranian Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) professionals may not be exempted from this rule. Considering the negative socio-economic impacts of this hardship, and in concert with a number of other professional associations and stakeholders, the Iranian Engineers of BC Association (IEBCA) has engaged in a series of direct and roundtable conversations with the BC government to reflect on the issue and its possible solutions since 2021. Throughout this engagement, IEBCA has strived to voice out the lack of clear guidance and transparency and systemic bias in credential recognition of Iranian AEC professionals.

Now, as a next step to this engagement, a survey has been put up by the BC government to receive input from internationally trained professionals and the broader public in order to address the issue of “Foreign Credential Recognition”. Therefore, IEBCA would like to encourage its members, partners, and friends to visit this website and complete the survey, which is available in several languages, including English and Persian:
https://engage.gov.bc.ca/govtogetherbc/engagement/foreign-credential-recognition/.

Please also feel free to share the link with your professional friends and colleagues, as this can help enrich the results of the survey.
