IEBCA Seminar:  Workforce of the Future

(Please use the RSVP on the top of this page to register for the event.)

Description:

The Iranian Engineers of BC Association (IEBCA) would like to invite you to join us in an informative in-person presentation by Dr. Hamid Kazemi from University Canada West. The presentation is in English, and members of Engineers and Geoscientists BC may claim 1 Continuing Education (CE) Hour for attending the event.

Organizations are more boundary-less, agile, global, and transparent — and will be even more so in the future. Work and workers (yes, humans) will always be essential to organizations, but organizations themselves will be more diverse, and work will be organized, structured, and done in new ways, increasingly through arrangements outside of regular full-time employment. How can leaders navigate this new digital work ecosystem? How should your organization plan for the changes ahead?  These are the type of questions that will be explored in this presentation.

Notes:
lease note that the event is free of charge; however, registration is required (RSVP above), as it helps us plan better for the event. Besides, due to COVID-19 still being around, by registering for the event, you agree that:
  1. You will refrain from attending the event should you suspect that your attendance might impose any risk (e.g., due to COVID-19 matters) to the health of other attendees.
  2. You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Please be prepared to show your proof of full COVID-19 vaccination upon arrival to the event, if needed.
  3. Wearing face masks is optional.
  4. This policy is subject to change to comply with orders of the Provincial Health Officer.
  5. By registering for this event, you agree to waive and give up certain legal rights, including the right to sue IEBCA and its Board members and volunteers for neglect, breach of contract or liability legislation or claim compensation following an accident or unexpected illness.
  6. During the event, photos will be taken by IEBCA’s assigned volunteer for IEBCA's media, including newsletter, social networking platforms and reports. By registering for this event, you agree to release liability for IEBCA and its Board members and volunteers regarding the use of the photos.

2. Seeking 3 Nominations for the Board (ex. Council) of EGBC:
IEBCA was contectd by one of EGBC's Directors and requested to share the following call for nominations.

Our organization is currently seeking nominations for 3 positions on its Board. Together, our Board governs the organization and sets its policy and strategic direction so that it can fulfill its regulatory mandate and live its values.

Serving on the Board is a unique and compensated leadership opportunity to give back to the professions, protect the public and the environment, and ensure that engineers and geoscientists have a positive and enduring impact in British Columbia.

We are highly encouraging nominations from diverse communities, including but not limited to those with different genders, orientations, ethnicities, professional backgrounds, experiences, and more. We believe that equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in our governance promotes different perspectives, catalyzes new ideas, and best represents BC’s unique cultural mosaic.

Please help us spread the word about this opportunity by sharing with your members who may be interested in applying.

HOW TO APPLY

The deadline for nominations is Monday, March 13, 2023, at 5:00 PM. For more information about qualifications and requirements, visit egbc.ca/board-nominations.

If you are interested in this opportunity and are curious to learn more about what service on the Board looks like, our Past Council President (Carol Park, P.Eng.) will be available at the following times for 15 minute, 1-on-1 sessions to answer any questions you may have.
